This is one of the reasons my worldview is different. If you remember, Socrates, when he would hoist up a bucket of water from the well, would dump it out and hoist up another, just to improve his endurance. Every comfort and convenience has its cost, if you compare the painters today with, say, the Flemish Primitives, you think What Happened? Well those guys had to make their own brushes and stretch their own canvases and grind their own pigments and mix their own paints, and they had to do it with candles and horses and their feet. Your evolution is largely in your own hands, if you think you're just automatically evolving, that might be a superficial view. "Conscious labor and intentional suffering," it's not a permanent way of life but if you try it for a little while, you might be surprised. I was going to write something about motivation, not in the Jordan Peterson sense, but with regard to spiritual development. My motivation was self-improvement, so I was serious for a while, maybe that's why I'm reporting some results. I reverted to being less serious, but I had a serious phase.
