More on Leonard Cohen

The more I think about this guy, the more I absolutely detest him. Here he says, all grandiose and self-congratulatory, "Any system you have built without us has been brought down." Oh yeah, asshole? And how long did your kingdoms last? Not even eighty years. Yes you are still here, but that's because you have been preserved for punishment. We all know how proud you are, you have told us a thousand times, but God resists the proud and gives grace to the humble. That's something you will never understand.

He says, "Let us deny the title Jew to anyone who is not obsessed with God." This is just where they went wrong, God doesn't want you to be obsessed with God. A little gratitude here and there is all he asks. The last thing he wants to be is a constant burden, or even worse, a get-out-of-jail-free card for a bunch of swindlers. These people are always thinking of themselves, identifying themselves with God, but they are God's antithesis.

I read that Larry Fink said he wanted to get rich and save the world, I suppose implying that if he had to choose, he'd go with the first. Well, I don't have much in the bank, but I've got enough filed away in my brain to save the world. "Take heart, for I have overcome the world."
