When you tell people your work is on Francis Bacon, usually they think of this guy, the Irish painter. This is his take on Velazquez's portrait of a pope. It has a certain something. I imagine this is what the other Francis Bacon feels like when he looks down on the results of what he bequeathed to the world. His idea was that science would be used to alleviate poverty, "the relief of man's estate," but it hasn't worked out that way yet.
