The art of living vs the life of art

We have perfected the art of living, but we have neglected the life of art. Art is long and life is short, but I can't tell you the satisfaction of having done something worthwhile. My life is justified, you feel. The world is a little better off. Most people participate in creation by having children, but you never know how the little blighters will turn out. At least you have some control over your art.
