If you are thinking of joining a religious community

I would tell you that your relationship with God is between yourself and God, and you need rather less of this social community stuff. Even family is a hindrance here. If you want to find God, you will have to do it on your own, you cannot have it handed to you. What to do? What I did was, I read a shitload, I took cold showers in the winter, I did mild fasting, I volunteered, I did exercises and met with groups and went to lectures and I did everything I could, just to get a survey and see what I needed. AA is a great help here, even if you're not a fun type of person. Do the 12 step thing even if you don't need it. You guys are looking for an external answer to your problems, a technological answer, and what you need is an internal answer, you need to work on your character.
