Can we please stop using the word "amazing" indiscriminately?

This is one of my pet peeves, especially when it is applied to a living human being who is not a musician. It is amazing that Beethoven wrote the Ninth Symphony when he was deaf. Tom and Susan next door may be nice people, but they are probably not amazing. It makes you sound like everything that comes out of your mouth can be disregarded, it sounds like hyperbolic flattery, which it is. I also hate LOL for what it's worth, you're not supposed to laugh at your own jokes, it's poor etiquette. Sorry, I'm in a slightly cantankerous mood.
